University of sydney faculty of engineering,
school of aerospace, mechanical and mechatronic engineering

The University of Sydney (USYD) is the biggest and most prominent supporter of the Sydney UAV Engineering society, through the Faculty of Engineering, and the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (AMME). Providing us with funding, academic advisory and mentoring, and access to state-of-the-art manufacturing labs, the faculty and school have been generous and supportive of our activities, as we push to achieve global recognition and success. The faculty comprises 7 engineering schools, one of which being the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic engineering (AMME). The school aims to give students a world-class education in these fields through the principles of learning by doing. The support from USYD ensures that our USYD DBF team is well-prepared for the annual competition and fosters innovation through Project FASTR and the Vertical Flight Research Group. A significant portion of SUAVE’s members come from the faculty of Engineering, and their unwavering commitment and technical expertise form the backbone of our society. We proudly represent the University of Sydney in everything we do and value the strong partnership we share with both the Faculty of Engineering and the School of AMME.

the University of Sydney Chancellor's committee

The University of Sydney Chancellor’s Committee has been a strong supporter of our society for the last two years. The committee was established in 1977 by Chancellor Sir Hermann Black with an aim to: raise awareness of the University among the general public; encourage the community to visit our campus and; raise funds to carry out projects of University-wide significance. Key initiatives include the Chancellor’s committee gift shop and the annual book fair. Through these events, the committee is able to support societies and teams like Sydney UAV Engineering through grants. For the first time in 2024, the Chancellor’s committee has partnered up with Lifeline to run the annual Book Fair, to help share a commitment to education, community engagement and mental health (support) awareness. The Chancellors Committee also strongly supports disadvantaged students through scholarships and bursaries with a strong focus providing a wider access to tertiary level education. We are extremely appreciative of their support of our team and their community goals.
